TERPS all the way, today

The #2 TERPS put together some runs and put up some
big numbers today with their 20 - 12 win over the
Stanford Cardinal on a sunny and warm day in College
Park. Finally, the weather cooperated!!

The TERPS jumped out to a 4 - 0 lead before Stanford
put in 2. Next, 4 different TERPS scored for an 8 - 2
lead after about 11 minutes. Stanford got a couple back
but the TERPS took it out to 11 - 4 on a couple of goals
by Brittany Jones and 1 from Laura Merrifield. In the
final 2:30 of the half, Stanford added 4 and the TERPS
1. Halftime - TERPS 12 - 8.

Halfway through the second half, the TERPS had scored
6 to Stanford's 1 for an 18 - 9 advantage. Brittany Jones,
Sarah Mollison and Caitlyn McFadden kept adding to
their goal totals!! Defense was solid all day limiting a
pretty high powered Stanford attack to 23 shots, GK
Brittany Dipper was credited w 7 saves. The TERPS
added 2 - Jones and Mollison again and Stanford got a
few more. Final 20 -12.

"It was great to see us get scoring from our different
offensive weapons," Head Coach Cathy Reese said. And
they did... Brittany Jones - season high 6 goals today.
Sarah Mollison - 4 goals, 3 assists = 7 points today, Brandi
Jones - 2 goals, 2 assists for 4 points. Two each from Caitlyn,
Laura and Karri Ellen and singles from Karissa and Spin!

The TERPS are off to their best start since the 2003
campaign!! Next up is Penn State on Friday in the ACC/ALC
Challenge at Ohio State. TERPS finish the weekend with
a Sunday ACC/ALC game versus the Buckeyes at 1P.
